Ana Mornar Turk, PhD, is a Full Professor with tenure at the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry (FBF), University of Zagreb, Croatia.
Academic Leadership and Service
Dr. Mornar Turk currently serves as the head of the postgraduate doctoral study Pharmacy at FBF since 2024. From 2016 to 2020, she held the position of Vice-Dean for Students and Student Programs. Her work experience at the University of Zagreb dates back to 2001, where she progressed through the ranks from Assistant to Full Professor with tenure in 2024.
Research and Publications
Her core research expertise is in the field of pharmaceutical analysis, with special focus on chromatographic techniques, mass spectrometry, and bioanalytical methods. She has published a total of 79 scientific publications, with 68 of these indexed in WoSCC. A notable 34 research articles were published in Q1 and Q2 journals. She is the main author of 35 publications and has held 9 invited lecturers at scientific conferences.
Project Management
She has successfully led three major research projects as the Principal Investigator (PI):
Implementation of green principles in analysis of antiinflamatory drugs (GreenLab) (2025-2029).
Development of sophisticated analytical methods for drug and biologically active compounds in inflammatory bowel disease treatment (UIP-2017-05-3949; 2018-2023).
Development of new analytical methods as a prerequisite for the production of high-quality olive oil (IBD_Analytics) (2015-2017). She also headed the development project Development of integrated undergraduate and graduate study Pharmacy (Pharma5.0) (2018-2021), funded by ESF.
Teaching and Mentorship
Dr. Mornar Turk is actively involved in teaching at multiple levels:
Integrated study Pharmacy: Pharmaceutical Analysis, Analytical Techniques in Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
Postgraduate doctoral study: Methods of Scientific Work in Biomedicine.
Postgraduate specialist study Drug Development: Bioanalysis, Validation of Analytical Methods.
In mentorship, she has supervised 5 defended PhD dissertations, 4 final specialist theses, and 51 master theses. She has collaborated with PhD students to publish 27 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
